Christian Education
Vision:
Provide a foundation and environment where spiritual growth and development is nurtured from preschool age through high school with the hope that our college age children will have a strong relationship with God through Jesus Christ, that will continue to strengthen and guide them as they enter the world on their own.
Mission:
We, the members of the Board of Christian Education, will encourage and support the spiritual development of our children by providing Sunday morning church school for preschool through high school age children, a midweek fellowship program for elementary through Senior High (LOGOS), Communion Class (preparing our 4th graders and older to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion during our Worship), and through developing special classes to teach our children the spiritual disciplines which the adults at Community Church practice in their lives. We will achieve this by prayerfully selecting and developing curriculum and resources to nurture a loving and deepening relationship with God, their church faith family and each other. We will call teachers and leaders for both Sunday church school and for additional programs we develop to further our children’s spiritual growth and will seek to enhance teacher’s skills by offering workshops.
Sunday School Classes and Times
We provide Sunday School for children and youth during the 10 am worship service. Sunday School is taught by dedicated individuals committed to teach our children and youth. Sunday School classes are as follows:
- Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
- 1st – 3rd grade
- 4th – 6th grade
- Junior High
- Senior High
Confirmation
Our ten-month Confirmation course, offered to ninth graders, prepares our young people to covenant to become members of the church. Although the course focuses on spiritual disciplines, people in the Bible, doctrines of the church, and one required in-depth essay on a biblical passage, we emphasize how Christians think and live rather than what information they know.
